love

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless–it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.” – C.S. Lewis

2011.

“oh, and how sweet the sound, of the lost being found.”
-lori mckenna/greg becker

2011. i’m standing in the rubble of whatever is left of that strange strange weirdo of a year. my head is still spinning, but my eyes are fixed forward. i’ve touched the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in the past twelve months, and i am more than ready and more than thankful for a fresh start. a reset button. a new page. a wind of redemption to blow in and clean this place up. God’s grace is sweeter and shining brighter over my life right now than ever before. it’s like someone turned on a light.

2011, goodbye and good riddance to you…

wow. i really am just terrible at this blog thing… so sorry! it’s april? what? well, time flies when you’re having fun…!! here’s a few highlights of the past few months in our little world:

-we started off 2011 by taking a little FL vacation, where we made goals and talked about our dreams for the year… it was absolutely wonderful. jill the dog got to play in the ocean and relax by the pool… haha! and we saw the most incredible sunsets of our lives…

unreal.

– then we had about 5 weeks straight (end of jan, all of feb…) where our house had a revolving door on it… so many visitors, but so much fun! got to spend time with my little brother caleb, rollie’s bff steve , my sweet friend jaime and her baby lydia, my madre and pops, and our former roomie, ryan! a few weeks later, bff heidi came down to have a much much much needed girls weekend… so… needless to say, we’ve been a very busy little family for the past few months!

-right now it is absolutely springtime and absolutely beautiful outside… i’ve been taking lots and lots of pictures of pretty things. like this:

-we’re making a new red wine… an Italian Montepulciano. will be ready in august… i can hardly wait! come visit us and try it!

-I’m sure it will come as no surprise, but Jill the dog still thinks she is a person. She’s been doing a lot of this lately… silly Jilly.

-Played my first big full band show at the basement in nashville last week. Steve Haines and Josh Fink were kind enough to drive down from MN to play the show… it was a blast!

-Also, we just got back from camping this weekend and I have a ton of photos to upload from that… hopefully i’ll remember to do that soon!

-Lastly, I still don’t know how to use commas. Please forgive me, I’m hopeless.

ONE MORE THING!…..

I guess the most exciting news in my world as of lately, is that I’ll be joining Willie Nelson on his Country Throwdown tour this summer! We’ll be playing 25 dates around the country in 5 weeks, and I can’t even freaking wait! It’ll be my first time hopping on a tour bus and I have no idea what to expect… except that I’m sure it’s going to be sweet!!! You can find information on that whole deal here: http://www.countrythrowdown.com/

okay, that’s all for now…

xoxo,
cait

life = awesome.

man oh man, do i just love life right now! just when i think “this couldn’t get any better”… it does. we are so in love with this city and these people. it just feels like home. here’s my little writing family, “cornman music”…. from left to right: brett james (our boss man/writer/publisher), kip moore (writer/artist), me, justin weaver (writer/producer) and nate lowery (publisher/coolest guy ever)…

I could not be at a better place. So blessed. So thankful. So happy.

Well, Rollie and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary a few weeks ago! We spent the weekend in Destin, FL on the beach. It was way too perfect. Rollie was in a friend’s wedding, and they were married on our anniversary… so it was pretty special! We fell in love with the white sandy beaches and could’ve stayed there forever. We’re still trying to figure out how we can just live on the beach… i’ll even live in a tent if i have to.

*sigh* i love the beach. love.
we’ve also been doing a lot of this stuff…

singing songs. and pushing buttons. and then hoping someone wants to listen.

Good news…
On 11/02/10 the new Jason Aldean record comes out… so you all can listen! A song I wrote with my friends Justin Weaver and Jon Mabe is on the record! Please buy 1000 copies and give them to everyone you know! The more you buy, the happier everyone will be. Promise. Or if that isnt reason enough for you to buy a copy or two, do it for Jill the dog. She needs to eat.

unreal. i love this dog.

okay, that’s all for now. i’ll leave you with a small clip of my song “Memory Lane”  from a live show I played at 12th and Porter last week. love you all! XOXO!

hello.

it’s been quite an exciting past few weeks! rol and i are working hard, making music for the people of the world… it’s good good fun and we’re keeping very busy! two days after returning home from mn, i went on a little writing retreat with some wonderful writers from curb publishing. it was my first writing retreat and i really enjoyed meeting some new writers… and growing a few relationships as well. here’s the good looking group…

good times. 🙂

also, i took a little trip the weekend before last to visit my sweet friend jamie’s new baby! it was a complete delight to meet little Lydia… she is absolutely adorable and beautiful and such a good good baby! here is “aunt cait” and sweet little baby lydia:

it was great. jamie and andy are fantastic parents and are doing a great job!!

hm…

what else has been going on? we had a visitor this last week! actually, jill had a visitor. our friend nate went out of town last weekend and so we watched his dog, reload. she’s a little sweetie… it took awhile for jill to warm up to her…

yikes. jill is not that mean, i promise!! haha! by the next day they were bff. see?

oh… how nice. 😉

hmmm… what else?

here’s rol, making hit music in our studio…

and… as i go through the rest of my pictures they are either 1. sunsets

or 2. jill

so… that’s about it!

oh yes, and i got my very first cut as a staff songwriter! i’ll let you know more info when it’s released, but be looking for my song on the new jason aldean record this fall! YAY! 🙂 thanks, jason!! xoxo!! (and a million thanks stage 3/cornman and my sweet sweet co-writers! love you!)

love,

cait
